2018 Leadership Award Presentation

The Branson Christmas Coalition celebrated Christmas in July with an award presentation this week to the team at Cox Medical Center Branson who was responsible for the organization’s new 2018 holiday décor in support of “America’s Christmas Tree City,” an area wide economic development effort spearheaded by the Coalition.

“Cox Branson was the recipient of our 2018 Leadership Award,” explained Ann McDowell, Executive Director for the Branson Christmas Coalition. “Cox demonstrated their support of the community and our efforts to grow and enhance the Christmas season in Branson with their creative and impactful new Christmas tree displays. The Cox Branson campus on Branson Landing Boulevard featured an impressive collection of trees that brightened the season for patients, area visitors, and everyone who enjoyed their unique beauty during the holiday season.”

During the 2018 Christmas season, Cox Branson featured a 50’ tall rope light tree on the outpatient building, two additional light trees measuring 20’ and 15’ on the campus, six more artificial lit evergreen trees at their main entrance and enhanced lighting of their naturally growing trees on their campus. Previous winners of the Branson Christmas Coalition’s Annual Leadership Award have been the City of Branson in 2016 when they installed the 80’ Tree of Light inside the Branson Landing Boulevard Roundabout and White River Valley Electric Cooperative for their support of the 26’ Christmas tree at Veterans Memorial Garden in honor of silver, gold and blue star military families.

The nine new trees at Cox Branson were among 733 Christmas trees documented in the Branson area during the 2018 holiday season according to McDowell.  The year-round effort to develop and enhance the holiday season by becoming famous as “America’s Christmas Tree City” is the mission of several area businesses who are dedicated to making November and December bigger and brighter than ever in Ozark Mountain Country.
